The Hot Shots

Richard Scullion and Ted Ray with their Hot Shot Certificates presented by Bowls International Magazine (Available by subscription in Digital or paper format).

What is a Hot Shot?

A Hot Shot is to score a maximum when playing Pairs, Triples, or Rinks. So not a common occurrence!!

Where and When?

Following my request of Richard to play for Surrey Men’s Patrons Association, for which Vicky also agreed to help fill the 6-rink match, we turned up at King George Field IBC, Tolworth on Saturday November 8th.

How?

To set the scene it needs to be said that this was Richard’s 1st Away match and probably his 1st game other than internal League or Roll-up, and for it to be with complete strangers and under the eyes of the County President and other Executive Members could have been quite daunting. However bowls being bowls Richard, and Vicky were given a very friendly and supportive greeting. Ted played 2 to Richards Lead role. This front end settled comfortably and at end 10 were10 – 8 in front, then Kaboom!! All 8 shots.

An Addendum

As stated above this was a bold venture for a 2nd year bowler, so to get a Hot Shot so soon in his career at the same time as Ted, who is in his 37th year bowling is some achievement.

Well done to you both.
